Urjala Works Oy is a medium-sized contract manufacturing company established in 2005 to continue the long tradition of engineering and metalworking at its factory in Urjala.
The company’s history dates back to 1972, when operations began under the name Laumek Oy. The business later operated as part of Kone Oyj until 1990 and as part of Konecranes Oyj from 1990 to 2005. Today, Urjala Works Oy is owned by its employees and private shareholders.
Urjala Works manufactures complete machinery and equipment assemblies as well as individual components for Finnish and international technology companies operating around the world. Its services include material preparation, welding, machining, surface treatment and assembly. The company’s operations are based on the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 3834-2 standards.

A New Boost for Coolant Filtration
With the delivery of two new machine tools approaching, Urjala Works began considering whether their coolant systems should be connected.
After careful evaluation, the company decided to invest in a shared coolant filtration system serving two existing and two new machine tools. At the heart of the system is a Micronfilter Evotech Pro 500 fabric filter unit supplied by Tekupit Oy.
Despite its compact size, the Micronfilter Evotech Pro 500 can process an emulsion flow of up to 200 litres per minute.
Tekupit’s scope of supply also included the transfer pumps used in the system and the control cabinet responsible for managing the operation of the entire installation. The control system was implemented cost-effectively using a Siemens LOGO! compact programmable logic controller, which can be easily integrated with the control systems of the machine tools.
Urjala Works was responsible for manufacturing the new coolant tank, carrying out the required cabling and pipework, and assembling and commissioning the complete system.
Thanks to careful advance planning and installation work, the system’s test run was completed without problems. The system has been in full production use since early 2025.
Once again, open communication between all parties involved played a key role in the success of the project and helped prevent misunderstandings.
